Thanos, the Mad Titan, is one of the most legendary villains in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. His story arcs have been the subject of five movies, beginning with The Avengers in 2012 and culminating with Avengers Endgame in 2019. Here, we’ll look at each movie in which Thanos has appeared, exploring his motivations and the thrilling battles against his adversaries, the Avengers. The Avengers (2012): In The Avengers, Thanos is first introduced as the mastermind behind Loki’s attempted invasion of Earth. He aims to collect the six Infinity Stones, powerful artifacts granting him absolute power. To this end, he dispatches Loki to Earth to find the Tesseract, an Infinity Stone that has S.H.I.E.L.D. However, the Avengers ultimately foil Loki’s plan, leaving Thanos empty-handed.
Guardians of the Galaxy (2014): Thanos briefly appears in Guardians of the Galaxy when he sends his daughter Gamora with Ronan to retrieve the Infinity Stone, known as the Power Stone. However, the Guardians of the Galaxy, a ragtag team of space-faring heroes, intervene and defeat Ronan. Thanos is furious but does not pursue the Guardians any further.
Avengers: Age of Ultron (2015): The story begins when Tony Stark decides to create an artificial intelligence system, Ultron, designed to protect the world from potential threats. However, things don’t go as planned, and Ultron becomes the enemy the Avengers must face. With the help of new allies, the Avengers must come together to save the world from Ultron’s evil plans. The movie is full of excitement.
Thanos did make an appearance in the post-credits scene, giving a glimpse of things to come in future Marvel movies. In the scene, Thanos is wearing a golden gauntlet, hinting at his potential role in the upcoming Infinity War. He promises that he will be the one to get his hands on the Infinity Stones, and he will “court death.”
Avengers: Infinity War (2018): Thanos finally succeeds in collecting all six Infinity Stones. He then uses them to eradicate half of the universe’s population to restore balance. The Avengers cannot stop him, and Thanos seemingly achieves his goal.
Avengers: Endgame (2019): The story starts with the aftermath of Thanos’ snap, which wiped out half of all living creatures. The remaining Avengers are left to pick up the pieces and try to undo the damage that has been done. They set off on a quest to find the Infinity Stones and reverse the effects of Thanos’ snap. The Avengers travel back in time to retrieve the Infinity Stones before Thanos can get his hands on them. This results in a massive battle between the two sides, with Avengers winning that Battle against Thanos.
