If you are looking for a spine-chilling and suspenseful movie experience, look no further than A Haunting in Venice, the latest film adaptation of an Agatha Christie novel. Directed by and starring Kenneth Branagh as the legendary detective Hercule Poirot, this film will take you on a thrilling journey through the dark and mysterious streets of post-war Venice.

A Haunting in Venice is set on Halloween night in 1947, when Poirot, now retired and living in exile, is persuaded by his friend and mystery writer Ariadne Oliver (played by Tina Fey) to attend a séance at the decaying palazzo of a famous opera singer, Rowena Drake (played by Kelly Reilly). But what starts as a harmless prank soon turns into a deadly game when one of the guests is brutally murdered during the séance. The victim is Joyce Reynolds (played by Michelle Yeoh), a former nurse who claims to be a medium and who reveals that Rowena hired her to contact her daughter Alicia, who supposedly committed suicide after being jilted by her fiancé, chef Maxime Gerard (played by Riccardo Scamarcio).

With a storm raging outside and the palazzo cut off from the outside world, Poirot must use his brilliant mind and his little grey cells to solve the case before the killer strikes again. But he soon realizes that nothing is as it seems and that everyone has a secret to hide. As he investigates, he encounters eerie manifestations of Alicia’s ghost, hears a haunting melody sung by a mysterious child, and uncovers a web of lies, betrayal, and revenge that spans decades and continents.

A Haunting in Venice is a gripping and atmospheric film that will keep you on the edge of your seat until the very end. The film boasts an impressive cast of international stars, including Jamie Dornan as Dr. Leslie Ferrier, Camille Cottin as Olga Seminoff, Jude Hill as Leopold Ferrier, Emma Laird as Desdemona Holland, and Kyle Allen as Nicholas Holland. The film also features stunning cinematography by Haris Zambarloukos, who captures the beauty and the horror of Venice in vivid detail. The film also has a haunting score by Hildur Guðnadóttir, who won an Oscar for her work on Joker.

A Haunting in Venice is the third film in which Branagh reprises his role as Poirot, following Murder on the Orient Express (2017) and Death on the Nile (2022). The film is loosely based on Christie’s 1969 novel Hallowe’en Party, but with several changes and twists that will surprise even the most avid fans of the author. The film has received generally positive reviews from critics and audiences alike and has grossed over $92 million worldwide.

If you are ready to face your fears and join Poirot on his most terrifying adventure yet, don’t miss A Haunting in Venice at RoadHouse Cinemas in Tucson and Scottsdale. The film is showing from October 8 to October 12 at various times. You can book your tickets online at RoadHouse Cinemas.
