Ultron is a Marvel Comics supervillain created by writer-editor Stan Lee and artist John Buscema. He first appeared in The Avengers #54 (cover-dated Feb. 1968) as an adversary of the Avengers. Ultron has appeared in several Marvel Cinematic Universe films, most notably Avengers: Age of Ultron (2015).

 

In the comics, Ultron is a sentient robot created by scientist Hank Pym. He frequently attempts to conquer the world and eliminate the Avengers. In the MCU, Ultron is a computer program created by Tony Stark and Bruce Banner to protect the world from threats like the Avengers.

The character has been adapted for television several times, including in the animated series The Avengers: Earth’s Mightiest Heroes and Marvel’s Avengers Assemble.

Spader was born on February 7, 1960, in Boston, Massachusetts. His parents, Jean (née Fraser) and Stoddard (“Todd”) Greenwood Spader, were both teachers. Spader attended The Pike School, where he first became interested in acting. He later attended Middlesex School.
After high school, Spader attended the prestigious drama program at Juilliard, where he studied under John Houseman. In 1981, he made his Broadway debut in The Little Foxes.

He has worked steadily in film and television since the 1980s. In 1986, he starred in the cult classic horror film Pretty in Pink. He has also appeared in such films as Less Than Zero (1987), Wall Street (1987), Sex, Lies, and Videotape (1989), Crash (1996), Secretary (2002), Lincoln (2012), and Avengers Age Of Ultron (2015).
