Ms Marvel has been well-received by both fans and critics. She has been praised for her representation of Muslim women and girls, and for her personal journey of self-discovery and empowerment. Ali has said that she created Ms Marvel to be a “relatable” superhero for young Muslim girls. “I wanted to create a superhero that felt real, someone who was struggling with the same things that I was,” she said in an interview with Newsweek. “I wanted her to be somebody that young Muslim girls could look up to.” Ms Marvel is one of the few Muslim characters in mainstream comics, and her faith is an important part of her character. In one scene from the comics, Kamala prays before going into battle. “It’s not just about her being Muslim, it’s about her being a teenager,” Ali said. “Her faith is a part of who she is, but it’s not the only thing that defines her.” In the comics, Ms Marvel is a member of the Avengers, and has also teamed up with Spider-Man, Wolverine, and Thor. She has her own ongoing series, and has been featured in several crossover events. Ms Marvel has been praised for her representation of Muslim women and girls.
